Jakarta,Tenarnews /Media cyber indonesian— Raja Agung Nusantara, Executive Chairman of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) and Chairman of the Indonesian Youth and Student Movement (GMPRI), has called on President Prabowo Subianto to immediately dissolve the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).

According to Raja Agung, Kemenpora has lost its direction and failed to fulfill its core mandate as an institution meant to empower Indonesia’s youth. He stated that the ministry has long abandoned its duties of fostering, mentoring, and strengthening the capacity of the nation’s young generation.

>“Kemenpora should have been a major platform to nurture future national leaders, cultivate leadership, and reinforce the spirit of nationalism among youth. In reality, it has failed to do so. Therefore, it is better to dissolve it,” said Raja Agung Nusantara at the KNPI Central Office in Kuningan, South Jakarta (November 1).

Raja Agung emphasized that his call to dissolve Kemenpora is not a political resistance, but a moral and ethical appeal for the government to restructure youth policies in a comprehensive and meaningful way.

He pointed out that Indonesia’s young generation currently faces enormous challenges from moral degradation and lack of character-building programs to limited access to platforms that help develop potential. Unfortunately, he said, state policies have not seriously addressed these issues.

 “We want the government to focus on developing youth character, competitiveness, and independence  not merely organizing aimless ceremonial activities every year. It’s time for political courage to drive fundamental change,” he stated.

As a concrete example of the government’s weak attention to youth affairs, Raja Agung highlighted the neglected condition of the KNPI Youth Building complex, which symbolizes the struggle of Indonesia’s young generation.

 “Look at the Youth Building in the KNPI area — it’s been abandoned and ignored. That’s a clear reflection of how youth affairs have become mere formalities without genuine support. From places like these, ideas, movements, and future leaders of the nation should have been born,” he remarked.

Raja Agung further stressed that the state must present policies focused on moral development, character building, creative economy, and social leadership among youth. He asserted that Indonesia now needs a new institution capable of working concretely, engaging directly with communities, and driving grassroots social transformation.

A Call for National Youth Policy Reform

In his statement, Raja Agung urged President Prabowo to review the current institutional structure governing national youth affairs and to establish a new system that is more participatory, transparent, and oriented toward youth development across all regions.

“The state must not treat youth merely as ceremonial symbols. Youth must once again become agents of change —l not project objects. If Kemenpora cannot fulfill that role, then its existence is no longer relevant,” he stressed.
